Billing & usage

MFICore is a postpaid, usage-metered product. You are billed for what you actually use, after the fact, rather than a fixed plan up front.

How metering works

Every billable action — a workflow run, a datastore operation, an LLM call, a stored page or form asset, a certificate, and so on — records an immutable usage record. Nothing is estimated; the ledger is the sum of what happened.

Your bill

At the end of each billing cycle, usage is rolled up into an invoice and charged to the card on file. You can review current usage under Billing → Overview and past invoices under Billing → Invoices any time.

Your payment method

You keep one card on file, under Billing → Profile. Card details go straight to Stripe — MFICore never sees your card number, only the brand, the last four digits and the expiry date.

If a payment fails

If a charge is declined, that invoice is marked as unpaid and new billable work is put on hold across your whole account until it's settled. Workflows won't start, and other billable actions are refused.

To get going again:

  1. Open Billing → Profile. A banner at the top tells you what's owed and why work is on hold.
  2. Update the card on file if it has expired, been replaced, or was declined.
  3. Click Retry payment. If it goes through, the hold is lifted straight away.

We also retry automatically in the background, waiting a little longer between each attempt, up to a limited number of tries. Retrying yourself is simply faster — you don't have to wait for the next automatic attempt. Every genuinely new failure is emailed to you; repeated attempts against the same unresolved problem aren't, so your inbox doesn't fill up.

Credit limit

Separately from a failed payment, new work is refused once your unpaid balance passes your credit limit, so usage can't run away unbounded. If you hit the limit, settle the outstanding balance to resume.

Budget warnings

You can set a monthly budget under Billing → Profile. When a period's usage passes it, we email you and show it on Billing → Overview.

This is a warning only. Your budget does not stop work — nothing is cancelled or refused when you cross it, so a long-running job can't be killed halfway through by a number you typed. The things that actually stop work are the credit limit and an unpaid invoice, both described above. Leave the budget empty if you don't want the warning.

Your billing profile

Before your first billable use, fill in your billing details under Billing → Profile: whether you bill as an individual or a business, your legal or company name, a billing email, and a full billing address including country. Businesses can also record a tax or VAT id.

These details appear on your invoices and are used for tax, and they're kept in step with our payment processor whenever you save them — so keep the billing email one you actually read, since invoices and payment problems are sent there.

Promotions

Credits and promotional pricing, when applied to your account, are reflected automatically in the usage pricing — you don't need to enter a code at checkout.
